Earn a Scout Pottery Badge

We teach your scouts how to transform clay into a one of a kind hand-made work of art. 

Scouts are taught the difference between raw clay and slip, which is what we use to cast our molds. 

They make a pinch-pot, a coil pot and pour & open a mold.

All ceramics badges require 2 visits. 

• In their first visit, they will create their items which require 1 week to dry out. 
• In their second visit, they will decorate their items. 1 item is glazed, others are painted and taken home same day. 

Scouts will learn about the kiln and the "pottery" wheel. We will explain all steps in making ceramics and the different techniques used to make them.

This is a very hands-on activity and the scouts will get messy. Please make sure they are wearing clothes that are suitable for this activity.
